ShippApp · Version 2 · Effective October 9, 2026
Privacy Policy
In plain English
- What we collect: account and company details, documents, tax information, photos and signatures from jobs, device and IP data — and, for drivers, phone location during jobs.
- Why: to run loads, pay people, keep everyone safe, stop fraud and follow the law. We never sell your personal information.
- Location: a driver's location is shared only from accepting a job until it's delivered (and while on duty for drivers who use the load board).
- Tax IDs are encrypted; only staff who prepare tax forms can see them, and every look is logged.
- Your rights: ask to see, correct or delete your information at billing@shippapp.com.
This summary is for convenience; the full text below is what applies.
When you sign, you confirm each of these separately
- I agree that ShippApp may collect and use my information as described, including my IP address and device, and — if I drive — my phone's precise location during jobs.
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how ShippApp LLC ("ShippApp", "we"), 305 New rd , Monmouth Junction NJ 08852, collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use the ShippApp Platform. Questions: billing@shippapp.com.
2. What we collect
- Account and contact: name, email, phone, company name, address, account type and login records.
- Business and compliance: USDOT/MC numbers, insurance and registration documents, vehicle details, driver's license photos (front and back), a selfie to match the license, driving-record (MVR) documents you upload, and safety records from public government sources.
- Tax and payment: W-9 information including your SSN or EIN (stored encrypted), your W-9 signature, backup-withholding status, payment and invoice history. If you use direct deposit, bank details are handled by our payment processor; we don't store full bank account numbers.
- Load and job data: addresses, contacts, freight details, times, prices, messages, freight photos, proof-of-delivery names and signatures, documents, claims and history.
- Precise location (drivers): your phone's location while you share it for an accepted job, and, for drivers allowed to use the load board, while you are on duty; plus the location attached to stop updates and photos.
- Device and usage: IP address, device and browser type, pages used, load-board views, and records of agreements and electronic signatures (time, IP address, device, document version and confirmed statements).
- From others: your carrier (if you are its driver or office staff), the shippers and carriers on your loads, public FMCSA and court records, identity and fraud checks, and the person who referred you.
3. How we use it
To create and secure accounts; verify identity, authority, insurance and safety; match, price, track and complete loads; show location and status to the shipper and carrier on a load; handle invoices, payouts, QuickPay, claims and extra charges; prepare tax forms (1099s); send alerts by email and in the app; give support; prevent fraud, abuse and going around the Platform (for example by removing phone numbers and emails typed into messages and by looking for unusual activity); enforce our agreements; meet legal duties; and improve the Platform.
4. Who we share it with
- The other parties on a load (shipper, carrier, assigned driver, carrier office staff) — only what they need for that load, and contact details only while the job is active and for 48 hours after delivery. Drivers never see what the shipper pays.
- Service providers that run parts of the Platform for us under contract: hosting and database, email delivery, maps and routing, identity and security checks, payment processing and accounting.
- Authorities and others when the law requires, to protect safety, to investigate fraud or theft (including with police, insurers and FMCSA), to enforce our agreements, or as part of a sale or reorganization of our business.
- We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context advertising. Phone numbers and text-message consent are never shared with others for their marketing.
5. Location
- Drivers turn location on when they accept a job. It is required to run jobs so the shipper and carrier can follow the load and stop arrivals can be confirmed. It stops when the job ends or you go off duty.
- You can turn off location in your phone settings at any time, but you then can't run jobs that need it.
- Your carrier can see your location during its jobs. New Jersey and New York law require employers to tell their workers in writing about vehicle and electronic tracking; ShippApp requires carriers to do that.
- Location history is kept only as long as needed for the job, claims, disputes, safety and legal records.
6. How we protect it
Encryption in transit; encryption at rest for tax IDs, with every staff view logged; role-based access so people see only what they need; staff sign-in protections and automatic sign-out; permanent audit records for documents and signatures. We don't display full Social Security numbers. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information we'll notify you and regulators as the law requires (including New Jersey's breach law and New York's SHIELD Act, which requires notice within 30 days).
7. How long we keep it
While your account is active, and afterwards as long as needed for the purposes above — including tax records (generally 7 years), load and payment records (at least 3 years, as broker rules require), signed agreements and evidence for disputes. Then it is deleted or de-identified.
8. Your choices and rights
You can view and update much of your information in the app. You may ask us to access, correct, delete or give you a copy of your personal information, or to stop optional uses, by emailing billing@shippapp.com. We'll verify your identity first and may keep information the law requires us to keep. Residents of New Jersey and other states with privacy laws have the rights those laws give them, including appealing a decision we make on your request (reply to our answer to appeal), and we won't treat you differently for using them. Most information we hold is about people acting for a business; we honor reasonable requests anyway.
9. Emails and text messages
- Service messages about your loads, payments and account (email and in-app) are part of the Platform.
- Text messages: we send texts only with your consent. Job and account texts and marketing texts have separate consents, and marketing texts are never a condition of using ShippApp. Reply STOP to stop or HELP for help, or tell us in any reasonable way. Message and data rates may apply.
- You can turn off optional emails in your account settings.
10. Children
The Platform is for businesses and adults and is not directed to anyone under 18.
11. Changes
We will post updates here and, for important changes, ask you to review and accept them in the app.
